Your wedding is one of the most important events of your life. It is a day you will remember forever. Planning for a wedding can be stressful at times. Start planning early to hopefully prevent a lot of headaches. There is nothing worse than trying to plan everything at the last minute. Don’t be afraid to recruit some help with the planning and execution. Having other people to help you can alleviate a lot of the burden of making sure everything goes according to plan.
Budget
Once you have a date in mind for the wedding, it is time to start thinking about a budget. Figure out exactly how much money you have available to pay for everything. Then you can divide the total budget into subsections. Each thing will have its own budget like venue, food, entertainment, and so on. This way you won’t as likely to spend too much on one thing. Also, if you end up getting a great deal in one area and have some money left over, you can roll that money into the budget for another area that you want to spend more on.
Guests
Think about whom you want to invite to your wedding. Remember that the more people who attend, the more everything is going to cost. You also have to keep in mind where guests from out of town are going to stay. Also, consider where guests from out of town will be staying in relation to the wedding, and what they will need for transportation.
Venue
You will need a space large enough to accommodate everyone on your guest list. Some venues specialize in weddings, and will have spaces for the ceremony and the reception. Depending on the time of year, you might also consider an outdoor ceremony.
Food
You will need to choose a wedding cake, as well as food for the reception. This can be a large expense if you have a long guest list. Also, think about what you might want to do for a wedding favor. Usually guests are sent home with a little bag containing something small like wedding chocolates as a memento.
Vendors
Most weddings will need someone to officiate the ceremony, a photographer, a florist, a caterer, and entertainment for the reception. If your budget is getting tight, you can save money by eliminating some of these people. You can always do some these jobs yourself, and perhaps recruit friends or family to help. The more people you can recruit, the less you will have to worry about yourself.
