Santacruz is a Mumbai municipal area and is home to the Santacruz railway station which is a part of the Mumbai Suburban railway, the domestic terminal of the Mumbai airport and a campus of the University of Mumbai. This runs from the Podar School Complex in the western part of the locality till the Western Express Highway in its eastern part. The eastern division is home to several areas like Prabhat Colony, Maratha Colony, Vakola and Kalina among others. The Mumbai Airport is also located here along with the Air Colony area. The western part is more affluent and is home to several prominent individuals. This is well linked to Bandra, Khar, Vile Parle and Juhu.

Santacruz is mostly a residential area and one of the hottest realty destinations in Mumbai. Limited availability of flats for sale in Santacruz has scaled up demand for properties in this region from high net worth individuals, professionals, businessmen and television and film stars. The area was earlier home to several bungalows which are now being replaced by swanky and premium high rises. The SNDT women’s university is located in the area while roads like the Juhu Tara Road, Swami Vivekanand Road, Juhu Road and Linking Road connect the locality to several parts of Mumbai. The locality is also home to several five star hotels including the Grand Hyatt and the Iskcon temple. There are several hospitals and schools in the neighborhood.
