While cemeteries are generally looked at as peaceful places of solace, there are others who simply do not how to behave in them. It is never okay to be disrespectful to anything in a cemetery near Lafayette.

Read The Posted Hours

There are many different reasons why cemeteries have posted visiting hours. No matter what those reasons may be or whether or not you agree with them, please be respectful of them and only visit within the allowed hours.

Obey Vehicle Rules

The main rule here is speeding. Astonishing as it may seem, there are people who think that it’s ok to speed through a cemetery. Not only is this incredibly disrespectful to those who are visiting, but it is actually quite dangerous as well. There should never be a time when you are driving fast through a graveyard.

Watch Your Children

When children are at the cemetery, it is very important that they be respectful and not treat the area as if it were a playground. Talking to them beforehand and teaching them the do’s and dont’s are both great ways to ensure this happens. If they simply cannot behave in an appropriate manner, it may be best to leave them at home or with a sitter while you visit.

Watch Where You Walk

While you may not think that it matters much since the graves are filled with only dead people, this is simply not so. It is considered very disrespectful to walk atop the graves in a cemetery near Lafayette, for not only the deceased but for the living friends and relatives as well.
