If you want to buy a reliable used Jaguar, you do have many choices. Among those that produce great frequency is the Jaguar S-TYPE. Available in three trims, this car, which first came off the assembly line in 1999, is a favorite of those who own it. The best years are provided below.
2004 Jaguar S-TYPE
This was the year the S-TYPE received its first major facelift. Its hood was now made of aluminum. Under it lay an impressive 2.7-litre, 24-valve, twin-turbo diesel engine. The exterior remained beautiful. The revised interior stayed affluent featuring rich leather upholstery. The suspension was retuned to improve the ride further.
2005 Jaguar S-TYPE
Many owners favor the 2005 Jaguar S-TYPE as being very reliable. Three main engine choices were available, the base is the 3.0-liter V6. All are paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Although short on modern technology this used Jaguar in Philadelphia remains a popular choice. The ride, like all Jaguar S-Types, is controlled and smooth.
2007 S-TYPE
Retro in style, this used Jaguar with its elegant interior came with three engine options mated to a standard ZF-made six-speed automatic transmission – all powertrains offering the chance to leave the competition in its dust. A bestseller in its time, it was a surprise the company discontinued the model the following year. With Jaguar’s Dynamic Stability Control system, antilock brakes (with brake assist) and traction control you can handle any curve or straightway thrown at you on the level streets of Philadelphia and the hilly rises in San Francisco.
