Most people with an AR15 are going to have a good selection of accessories, including a number of magazines for the weapon. While magazines are designed to be durable and will typically last for years of use, they can be damaged and they should be replaced if they are jamming, sticking or causing problems.
It may be a good idea to include several different AR15 magazines for your weapon. The biggest difference in these magazines will be the number of rounds in the magazine. Popular options include the larger 25 round capacity options and the smaller 15 and 10 round capacity magazines.
Before purchasing any AR15 magazines, take the time to confirm the round capacity for magazines in your state or the state where you are going to use the weapon. As these can and do change based on laws enacted, it is a wise idea to double check before each purchase and before taking the weapon and magazines out of your state.
Manufacturing Process
By using butt welded steel to create the magazine a durable, rugged and easy to load and unload magazine, top manufacturers create a component that is going to last.
Look for additional features such as a spring and button floor plate and an anti-tilt follower for easy cleaning as often as necessary. These types of mags are also easy to eject from the weapon and to snap into place quickly and without any sticking or problems.
Weapon or Magazine?
If you are experiencing a lot of jams with the weapon and have fully cleaned the rifle, it may be an issue with the magazine. If you have several AR15 magazines, replace the current magazine with another and see if the jamming problem persists.
When the jamming problem is corrected, the issue is most likely with the magazine itself. Try cleaning the mag and then cycling through bullets manually, noting if there is any inconsistency with how they leave the magazine.
