As a student who rents an apartment, you’re responsible for keeping your home clean and free of any issues unless they are reported to the manager of the complex. Here are a few ways that can make maintaining your home a little easier between classes and activities.

Cleaning

Try to make a cleaning schedule when you move into one of the UNT student apartments that are available. Focus on common areas in your home if you share it with roommates. You can then determine when would be the best time to clean your bedroom and private bathroom so that your personal spaces are clean as well. Keep trash removed from the apartment along with any items that you no longer need or use so that they don’t clutter the inside or immediate exterior of your home. Furniture pads are beneficial for keeping scuff marks off the walls and floors as well.

Keys

While there are some UNT student apartments that only want tenants to have one or two keys for the unit, you can ask if you can make more copies. This is beneficial so that you keep a key in your purse or wallet or in another secure area where only you know where it’s located. You could also give your parents or another trusted family member a copy of your key in the event of an emergency. If you have a copy of your key available, then it could save you a maintenance fee for getting a new one made or having your lock replaced.
