There are two types of soda dispensers: pre-mix and post-mix. For pre-mix dispensers, the soda is delivered to your business ready-to-drink and is dispensed through the nozzle. It does not require a water line (unless the machine has a built-in ice maker). In post-mix dispensers, the drink syrup, water, and CO2 are mixed together to create the beverage as it is dispensed. These are generally used by fast food restaurants, sit-down restaurants, and other high-traffic stores because they tend to be more cost effective. The installation process is similar for both the pre-mix and post-mix cold drink dispenser and can be done without the assistance of a professional.
Step-by-Step Installation Instructions
1. Place the soda fountain on the counter where you intend to install it. Make sure that the counter is sturdy enough to support it and that you push it back a few inches from the edge to ensure that it does not accidentally fall off.
2. Use the instructions that came with the cold drink dispenser to connect the appropriate hoses in the back of the machine. For post-mix drink dispensers, one hose will supply water to the ice maker (unless your model has an ice bin in the front), another hose will supply water to the carbonator for the beverages, and another hose will attach to the bag of syrup. When you have multiple drink dispensers in one machine, lines will need to be connected from each syrup bag to each different dispenser. For pre-mix dispensers, one hose will be needed for the beverage itself, and if the system has an ice maker, then a water line will need to be connected as well. Make sure all hoses are tightened onto the nozzles as tightly as possible to prevent leaks.
3. Place a label on each end of the hoses connecting the syrups to the dispensers so that you can easily tell them apart down the road.
4. For a post-mix system, connect the CO2 hose to the carbonator pump, and for a pre-mix system, connect the CO2 hose to the canister. The specific way to do so depends on the type of equipment manufactured by your provider. Ensure the hoses are closed tightly to prevent gas leaks.
5. Connect the ends of the hoses that attach to the syrups to the respective pumps. Make sure the correct flavors are connected to the right pumps to prevent any flavor mix-ups.
6. Plug the pumps into the electrical socket and turn on the CO2 valve and water. Hold the lever on each dispenser for several minutes until the air is pumped out of each hose and only the beverage is being dispensed.
7. Taste test the beverages and make any adjusts to the syrup/CO2/water mixture as necessary.
When you do all of this, you have successfully installed your cold drink dispenser.
