In many industries, the simple device is the most effective as it is easy to use, durable and lacks the complicated features that can be an issue for early wear or device failure. This is certainly true with the different options in Crosby turnbuckle designs that have been around for years and are still the preferred option in many applications.

The Crosby turnbuckle is a brand name that has become a descriptive name for any turnbuckle of the same design. The basis of the design is two bolts that are inset into a round, elongated frame. The head ends of the two bolts can take on different shapes and allow wire, rope or other types of attachment systems such as chains to attach easily.

To tighten or loosen the connection, all that is required is to either turn one or both of the bolts in the frame. There is no need to use special tools, and the device is easy to operate even in less than ideal outdoor conditions.

Fine Control

One of the more important factors in choosing a Crosby turnbuckle over any other tightening or tensioning option is because of the ability to finely control the tension.

This is often very important in lifting specific types of loads, where over tightening could result in damage to the load or the packaging of the load. By having the ability to fine tune the tension to the desired level this ceases to be a concern.

Options and Variables

These turnbuckles come in a variety of sizes based on the type of wire, cable or rope in use as well as the weight or tension level they will need to support. They are also available with different options in the ends from the more common eye bolts to hooks and jaws or a combination of ends to meet specific needs.
