Getting a gastric sleeve in Las Vegas can be an effective way to lose weight. However, in order for that to happen, you must follow a special diet through several phases. Following this diet is important because the gastric sleeve procedure reduces the stomach to about 15 percent of its former size. Not only does this diet help you to learn a new way of eating, but it protects your surgery and helps you stay healthy during the first few weeks following the procedure.

Phase One

Phase one is the clear liquid phase, which lasts for about a week to 10 days after surgery. During this time, patients should only consume clear liquids, including at least eight glasses of water a day. The benefit of this phase is to speed up the healing process and reduce nausea and vomiting after the gastric sleeve procedure. A clear diet includes jello, broth, decaffeinated tea or coffee and sugar-free popsicles.

Phase Two

At the 10-day mark, you start to feel hungry after getting a gastric sleeve in Las Vegas. During this phase, you can consumer fuller liquids that are high in protein. Incorporate protein through a powder supplement. Your surgeon can recommend a protein powder that will meet your daily needs. Aim for 20 grams of protein each day. Continue to have lots of water. This phase will also include thin soups, diluted juice, sugar-free yogurt and applesauce diluted with water.

Phase Three

Phase three after the gastric sleeve in Las Vegas is transitioning to soft foods. This still includes taking in plenty of water to remain well hydrated. At this stage, you will add an additional 20 to 80 grams of protein in powder form. Other foods in this phase include soft fish, low-fat cheese, soft scrambled eggs, softened vegetables and soups with some soft vegetable chunks.

Phase Four

After four weeks, you are ready for solid foods. It’s important to not drink your calories, unless it’s in the form of protein. Other healthy solid foods include fish, lean meats, fruits and vegetables.
