Whether you have a lot of employees who are in Chicago branches of your corporation, or you want to send someone there to start looking for a new office, you’ll want to find furnished corporate housing to help them and yourself. It can save a lot of money to use temporary accommodations in an apartment or single-home setting, rather than using hotels. However, there are still things to consider, such as location, pricing options and amenities, among others.

Location

When considering a rental, you’ll need to know where it’s located and if it will work for your needs. In most cases, your employees will have transportation or can rent cars, but neither of those options may work. If they have no valid driver’s license, you’ll need to make sure they can get wherever they need to be through public transport, such as buses or subway trains. If they are going to be working, it may be better to have them nearer to the branch, so they don’t have so far to travel. You may also want to consider the neighborhood and whether or not necessary shopping options are available.

Pricing/Lease Options

You’ll need to determine how long your employee will require the unit. Most temporary housing places will offer short-term lease arrangements, such as one month. If you need something less than that, it may be arranged, especially if you’ll give them repeat business. You may also want to focus on the overall price and what you get. If it includes furnishings, you may expect to pay a little more, but you won’t have to move all your employee’s things to the new place, which can save a lot of money.

Amenities

Traditionally, temporary corporate accommodations don’t offer luxurious amenities, like pools or spas. However, they should include full kitchens, all the tools and appliances necessary to cook, dinnerware, bedding, linens, and other basics. They may also offer washers, dryers, dishwashers, convection ovens and microwaves though they aren’t required to do so.

You may want to speak with your employee and ask what he or she must have because it can make it a lot easier when searching for a place. For example, if your employee regularly eats frozen dinners or always has microwave popcorn for a bedtime snack, a microwave would be considered a necessity for them.
