Cars have gotten much more reliable in the last few decades. At one point, before everyone used fuel injection, it was not uncommon to have a full survival kit and possibly even rations in your car. After all, If your car broke down and you were in the middle of nowhere, then it could be a while before you got help, especially at night. Now most people have cell phones and cars are more reliable than ever before, so a full survival kit and rations is a bit overboard. However, there are still a few things that it just makes sense to carry in your car, and one is a flashlight.

What Type of Flashlight Do You Need?

First, don’t get an old incandescent flashlight. These do not last as long, and the batteries tend to corrode over time and ruin the flashlight. There is nothing quite like finding out your flashlight does not work when you need it to the most. Be sure to get a good set of LED flashlights and keep one in each vehicle. If you break down, then it will prove invaluable if you can fix the problem then and there.

What Can You Do With Your Flashlight?

LED flashlights are invaluable if you get into an emergency situation in your car. Imagine, for instance, that you have to fix a flat. How are you going to see to do it if you are alone and it’s dark? With an LED light, you can point it right at the car tire and get to work. Another thing you can do with a flashlight, even in the light, is take a look under the hood. After all, you never knew when you might have to take a look, and it’s hard to see in there. Finally, you can use these flashlights to look under the seats or in the truck. This is especially helpful if you have kids.
